The sentencing of President-elect Donald Trump in the Manhattan hush money case has been postponed indefinitely, according to Judge Juan Merchan. The decision was made on Friday (November 22) to allow for further arguments on whether the case should be dismissed entirely due to Trump's status as president-elect. The sentencing, originally scheduled for November 26, will now be delayed to allow Trump's lawyers to file their arguments by December 2, with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg given until December 9 to respond.

Trump was found guilty in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The conviction carries a maximum penalty of up to four years in prison, but first-time offenders typically receive a lesser sentence.

Trump's lawyers argue that the case should be dismissed due to presidential immunity protections, which they contend are already in place as a result of his election victory.
